But when is the right time to indulge in these types of foods? We asked nutritionists, chefs, and food bloggers for their input and here’s what they had to say:.

While many of us may associate thick foods with lunch or dinner, there’s no reason why they can’t make an appearance at breakfast.
“Thick and hearty breakfasts can be a great way to start the day, especially during the colder months,” says registered dietitian nutritionist, Laura Burak. “Options like oatmeal, quinoa bowls, or breakfast burritos can fill you up and provide sustained energy throughout the morning.”.

But is this the optimal time of day to indulge in them? “It really depends on the individual and their activity level,” says chef and food blogger, Jessica Formicola. “If you have a physically demanding job or plan to work out in the afternoon, a thicker lunch can be a good way to fuel your body. But if you’re sedentary for most of the day, a lighter lunch may be a better option.”.

Thick, hearty dinners are a staple during the colder months. “There’s something very comforting about sitting down to a warm bowl of chili or a plate of lasagna on a chilly evening,” says Formicola.
