Easy Steps to Baby Massage

Learn how to massage your baby with easy steps. Massage can help with bonding, soothing and helping baby relax. It can aid digestion, improve sleep, and boost their immune system

Massaging a baby is not only an excellent way to bond with the little one but also a great way to soothe and help them relax.

In addition, studies have shown that massaging a baby can also help in improving their sleep, aiding digestion, and boosting their immune system. But how exactly do you go about massaging a baby? Here are some easy steps that you can follow:.

Step 1: Choose a Comfortable Spot

The first thing you should do is find a comfortable spot to massage your baby. You can choose a bed, a changing table, or even a carpeted floor with a soft blanket to lay the little one on.

Step 2: Get the Right Massage Oil

It is important to use massage oil when massaging your baby to prevent skin irritation. Make sure to choose a gentle and natural oil such as coconut oil or grape seed oil. Avoid using any oil that contains fragrance or perfume.

Step 3: Warm Up the Oil

Pour a small amount of the oil into your hands and rub them together to warm it up. You can also warm up the oil by placing the bottle in a bowl of hot water for a few minutes.

Step 4: Start with the Legs

Begin by massaging your baby’s legs first. Use gentle strokes with your palms and fingers, starting from the thigh down to the feet. You can also gently rotate the ankles and toes.

Make sure not to apply too much pressure and avoid pressing on any bony areas.

End the massage with the back. Use long strokes from the shoulders down to the hips. Avoid the spine and use circular motions on the lower back.

Remember to always be gentle and not put too much pressure when massaging your baby. Avoid any areas where the baby seems uncomfortable or in pain.

Step 9: Keep Your Hands Warm

During the massage, make sure to keep your hands warm to prevent your baby from feeling cold and uncomfortable.

Lastly, follow your baby’s cues. If the baby seems uncomfortable or is not enjoying the massage, stop and try again later on. Every baby is different, and it may take some time to find what works best for them.
