How well can you hear? Take our hearing test!

Take our hearing test to assess your ability to hear different frequencies and volumes and determine your hearing health

Hearing is an important sense that helps us connect with the world around us. However, as we age, our hearing ability may decline, making it harder for us to hear and communicate effectively.

Even young people may experience hearing loss due to exposure to loud noise or medical conditions.

If you are concerned about your hearing or want to check if your hearing is within the normal range, you can take our hearing test.

This test is designed to assess your ability to hear different frequencies and volumes and provide you with a general indication of your hearing health.

The Hearing Test

The hearing test consists of two parts: a pure-tone audiometry test and a speech recognition test.

The pure-tone audiometry test measures your ability to hear different frequencies (pitches) of sound, while the speech recognition test evaluates your ability to understand spoken words.

Part 1: Pure-tone audiometry test

In this test, you will be asked to wear headphones and listen to a series of tones at different frequencies and volumes. You will be instructed to raise your hand or press a button when you hear each tone.

The test will begin with a tone at a low frequency, such as 250 Hz, and gradually increase in frequency to higher pitches, such as 8000 Hz. You will also hear tones at different volumes, from soft to loud.

The test will measure your hearing threshold, which is the softest volume at which you can hear each tone at each frequency.

The results will be plotted on an audiogram, which is a graph that shows your hearing ability across different frequencies and volumes.

Part 2: Speech recognition test

In this test, you will listen to a series of words spoken by a recorded voice and repeat them back. The words will be presented at different volumes to test your ability to hear and understand speech in noisy environments.

The test will measure your speech recognition threshold, which is the softest volume at which you can repeat back 50% of the words correctly. The results will be compared to the normal range for your age and sex to determine if you have a hearing loss.

The Results

After you complete both parts of the hearing test, you will receive a report that summarizes your hearing ability and provides recommendations for further action, if needed.

The report will show your hearing threshold at different frequencies and volumes, as well as your speech recognition threshold. It will also indicate if you have a hearing loss and the severity of the loss, if any.

If your results indicate a hearing loss, you may be advised to see an audiologist or an ear, nose, and throat (ENT) specialist for further evaluation and treatment.

Depending on the cause and degree of your hearing loss, treatment options may include hearing aids, cochlear implants, or other assistive devices.
