- 3 lbs. pork shoulder, boneless
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp. ground cumin
- 1 tsp. chili powder
- 1 tsp. smoked paprika
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. black pepper
- 1 cup chicken broth
For the tacos:.
- 12 corn tortillas, warmed
- 1/2 cup cilantro, chopped
- 1/2 cup onion, diced
- 1 lime, sliced into wedges
- 1 avocado, pitted and sliced
- 1 jalapeño pepper, sliced (optional)
: Instructions
Step 1: Make the slow-cooked pork
In a large bowl, mix together the onion, garlic, cumin, chili powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Rub the mixture over the pork shoulder, making sure to cover all sides.
Place the pork shoulder in a slow cooker and add the chicken broth. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 8 hours or on high for 4-5 hours until the pork is tender and falls apart when shredded with a fork.
Once the pork is cooked, use two forks to shred it into small pieces. Reserve the cooking liquid to use as a sauce.
Step 2: Assemble the tacos
To assemble the tacos, warm the tortillas in a dry skillet or on a griddle until soft and pliable. Top each tortilla with a generous amount of shredded pork, cilantro, onion, and any other desired toppings, such as sliced avocado and jalapeño.
Drizzle the reserved cooking liquid over the tacos and serve with lime wedges on the side.
