Taking medication can be difficult for both humans and pets. If your furry friend is refusing to take their pills, don’t worry. There are many ways you can trick your dog into taking their medication without them even knowing.

Here are five tips you can try:.

1. Hide the Pill in Food

This is possibly the easiest way to trick your dog into taking their medication. You can hide their pills in their favorite treat or food. Try using soft foods like cheese, peanut butter or even a small piece of hot dog.

Be sure to crush the pill if you can, so your dog doesn’t bite down on it and spit it back out. This method has been proven to be the most effective, no dog can resist their favorite treat!.

2. Crushing the Pill

If hiding your dog’s pill in their treat isn’t working, another option is to crush it. Using a pill crusher or mortar and pestle, crush the pill into a fine powder. Mix the powder into wet food or make a paste with a small amount of water.

Be sure your dog consumes all of the food or paste. If they get a single whiff of the medication they’ll never take it again.

3. Use Pill Pockets

Pill pockets are dog treats that are designed with a built-in pocket to hide the pill in. These treats come in a variety of flavors and sizes, making it easy to find one your dog will love. They’re also easy to find at any pet store or supermarket.

4. Hand Feeding

When your dog is refusing to take their medication, try hand feeding them. First, offer them a treat without the pill. Once they are comfortable, skip the treat and instead place the pill in their mouth and then immediately follow it up with a treat.

Your dog will be so focused on the treat that they’ll swallow the pill without even realizing it.

5. Use A Pill Syringe

If all else fails, you can use a pill syringe. Pill syringes are similar to those used to give babies medicine. Load the pill into the syringe and then place it in the back of your dog’s mouth.

Then, shoot a small amount of water to encourage them to swallow the pill.

Remember, it’s important that your dog get their prescribed medication, even if they don’t like it. Use one of these five tips to make the experience easier for both of you.
