In January 1972, a plane carrying 45 passengers crashed in the Andes Mountains in South America. Among the survivors was a 17-year-old girl named Juliane Koepcke.
The plane crash killed her mother and all of the other passengers, leaving Juliane alone and injured. She managed to survive the ordeal by drinking from a nearby stream and eating the flesh of those who had died in the crash. After nine days in the wilderness, she was rescued by a group of loggers who found her walking through the jungle.

In 1999, a Frenchman named Thierry Sabine got lost while participating in the Paris-Dakar Rally in the Sahara Desert. He wandered aimlessly for nine days, suffering from dehydration and exhaustion before he was rescued by a group of nomads.
Sabine said that he survived by drinking his own urine and eating lizards and scorpions.
3. The Woman Who Survived a Shark Attack
In 2003, a 23-year-old woman named Bethany Hamilton was surfing off the coast of Hawaii when a 14-foot tiger shark attacked her, severing her left arm.

He survived by catching fish and birds and drinking rainwater and his own urine. After 438 days adrift, he washed up on a remote island in the Pacific, where he was finally rescued and reunited with his family.
