Hair dyeing is a common practice carried out by individuals to change their appearance. While some people prefer to go to salons to get their hair colored, others prefer to carry out this task at home by themselves.
Results vary depending on the type of dye, developer, and hair type. In this experiment, we tested the performance of four different hair dye brands and noted the results.
The Experiment
We started this experiment by selecting four brands of hair dye, namely:.
- Revlon Colorsilk
- L’Oreal Paris Feria
- Garnier Nutrisse
- Clairol Nice’N Easy
We then followed the instructions provided by each brand and applied them to four different hair samples. We used a color swatch to determine the color of each dye before application.
We repeated the process three times and took pictures after each application and conducted a careful analysis of the before and after results. We then compiled our findings using a graphic representation.
The Results
The following is a representation of the four hair samples and the results obtained from each dye brand:.

Revlon Colorsilk
Revlon Colorsilk was the first brand we tested. This brand is known to provide vibrant and radiant colors to hair. After applying the dye, we noticed a significant color change on the hair samples. The hair appeared brighter, shinier, and healthier.
The texture of the hair was smooth and silky, which made it easy to comb through. We also noticed that the dye had a pleasant smell, unlike other brands, which tend to have an overpowering smell.
L’Oreal Paris Feria
We applied the L’Oreal Paris Feria brand next. This brand promises to provide multidimensional color and gives the hair a shimmering effect. After application, we noticed that the color was not as prominent as we expected.
The hair samples were still shiny, but the shade was slighter less vibrant. The dye had a strong smell, which lingered even after rinsing. Compared to other brands, we noticed that the hair was drier than expected.
Garnier Nutrisse
We applied the Garnier Nutrisse brand next. This brand promises to provide long-lasting color and includes avocado and olive oil to keep hair nourished and moisturized.
After application, we noticed that the hair samples were softer, shinier, and healthier. The dye also provided a rich and vibrant color to the hair, which made it look lively. The dye had a pleasant smell, and unlike other brands, there were fewer drips or splatters during application.
Clairol Nice’N Easy
Last but not least, we applied the Clairol Nice’N Easy brand. This brand is known to provide natural-looking color and is gentle on the hair. After application, we noticed a significant color change on the hair samples.
The color was rich, but not as vibrant as other brands. The hair samples remained soft, smooth, and easy to comb through. The dye had a mild, pleasant smell, unlike other brands, which have strong and overpowering smells.
Conclusion
Based on this experiment, it is evident that the brand of hair dye used significantly influences the final results. Each brand has its unique features that result in different outcomes on different hair types.
It is advisable to take time and choose a brand that suits your hair type and desired outcome. From our experiment, we found that Garnier Nutrisse provided the best results regarding color vibrancy, softness, and healthiness of hair.
