There’s nothing quite as comforting as the smell of freshly baked cinnamon rolls wafting through the house. And when you add the fruity goodness of apples and cranberries into the mix, you have a truly irresistible treat.

These apple cranberry cinnamon rolls are the perfect combination of sweet, tart, and spicy flavors, making them the ultimate indulgence for breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients:

For the dough:.

  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup milk
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter
  • 2 large eggs

For the filling:.

  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup peeled and diced apples
  • ½ cup dried cranberries
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

For the glaze:.

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

1. Prepare the dough:

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. In a separate microwave-safe bowl, heat the milk and butter until the butter is melted (about 45 seconds to 1 minute on high power). Let it cool slightly.

Add the milk mixture and eggs to the dry ingredients. Stir until the dough starts to come together. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.

2. Prepare the filling:

In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Set aside.

3. Assemble the rolls:

Punch down the risen dough and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll it out into a large rectangle, approximately ¼ inch thick.

Brush the melted butter evenly over the dough. Sprinkle the sugar and spice mixture over the butter, making sure to cover the entire surface. Scatter the diced apples and cranberries over the sugar mixture.

Tightly roll up the dough, starting from the long side of the rectangle. Seal the edges by pinching the dough together. Using a sharp knife, slice the rolled dough into 12 equal-sized pieces.

Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, leaving a little space in between each roll for rising. Cover the dish with a kitchen towel and let the rolls rise for another 30 minutes.

4. Bake the rolls:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for about 20-25 minutes or until they turn golden brown and are cooked through. Remove them from the oven and let them cool in the dish for a few minutes.

5. Prepare the glaze and serve:

In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Drizzle the glaze over the warm rolls.
