Missing a period is usually the first sign that you might be pregnant. However, there are various signs that some women experience even before a missed period. These early signs of pregnancy are referred to as pre-delay pregnancy symptoms.
1. Implantation bleeding
Implantation bleeding happens when the fertilized egg implants itself in the lining of the uterus. Some women may experience light spotting or pink discharge, and cramping, around 10 to 14 days after conception. This can be a sign of early pregnancy.
2. Fatigue
Feeling tired and exhausted is one of the earliest and common signs of pregnancy among women. Hormonal changes in the body during pregnancy can cause you to feel sleepy and lethargic.
3. Nausea
Nausea is experienced by many women during pregnancy. Also called morning sickness, this feeling of nausea can occur at any time of day or night for some women. It can occur as early as two weeks after conception.
4. Changes in breasts
During pregnancy, breasts undergo significant changes in preparation for breastfeeding. Some women may experience sore, tender, or swollen breasts or nipples even before a missed period.
5. Mood swings
Hormonal changes during pregnancy can cause you to feel a flood of emotions. Many women experience mood swings that can range from happiness to sadness, from anger to joy.
6. Increased urination
During early pregnancy, you may experience frequent urination due to increased blood flow to the pelvic area and changes in hormone levels. It usually happens around six to eight weeks after conception.
7. Food aversions or cravings
Changes in hormone levels during pregnancy can cause you to crave certain foods or lose your appetite for others. Many women also experience aversions to foods or smells that they previously enjoyed.
8. Headaches and back pain
Changes in hormone levels and stress on the body can cause headaches and back pain during early pregnancy.
9. Dizziness or fainting
Some women experience dizziness or lightheadedness due to changes in blood pressure and blood sugar levels during pregnancy.
10. Constipation or bloating
Problems with digestion and constipation can occur due to changes in hormone levels during pregnancy. Some women experience constipation or bloating even before a missed period.
